Rodgers to sign tomorrow?

Thursday, November 20, 2008, 17:00

PORT Vale striker Luke Rodgers will be at Huish Park tomorrow in a bid to conclude the long-running transfer saga.

Rodgers was expected in Yeovil today, but manager Russell Slade said he has been struck down with flu.

The attacker, who Slade hopes will add pace and persistence to his squad, is expected to train with the Glovers tomorrow before putting pen to a loan deal with a view to a permanent switch in January.

"We are likely to finalise his signature tomorrow," said Slade. "We are hoping he is fit enough to train, but we are going to have to wait and see.

"It has been the longest deal in the world but it has been finalised, verbally, but I have text and spoken to him and he is not well."

Latest figures show six people a week are stabbed to death on the streets of Britain. From next week courts will be able to sentence knife offenders to "community payback" work including picking up litter and cleaning up graffiti while wearing high-visibility jackets. Will this be enough to stem the rise in knife crime?
